I see a handful of people predicting a loss to Missouri St. Not sure I understand the logic. All indications thus far is that Valpo is the better team. I wouldn't look at pre-season projections when you have a month of on-court data. Also it's a home game for Valpo, where we lose almost never.

Smits's lack of minutes were in conjunction with how well Sorolla played. Tough to take Sorolla out when he's completely controlling the paint on both sides of the court.

I wouldn't be concerned with Golder defensively. He's one of the best defenders on the team.

I think the 5 listed are the 5 best players of the last 25 years. I give kudos to the writer.

The ball needs to be downed to be dead, just touching a player on the kicking team doesn't kill the play.

White was injured vs Columbia after taking a hit to his throwing elbow, and was doubtful. We were told he probably would only play if Hallenback was injured. He traveled and dressed. I'm guessing they felt they could win without him, and decided to not risk playing their standout QB at less than 100%. However, it was clear at 21-3 they needed a spark and I'd assume White convinced the coaches he could play. As it turned out, White turned it over himself 4 times in the second half, so it didn't matter.

Valpo is making a big commitment to improving the ESPN3 broadcasts in all sports. It's a rather large process with all new equipment and a new setup. Unfortunately, it will not be ready til at least the middle of next month. There's hope in getting a game or two streamed at the end of the season.

Basically the only restriction is 3 recruiting assistants. Bigger schools create all sorts of positions (video coordination, assistant to the head coach, etc.) to add positions to help the program. These extra positions can't go on the road and recruit and also can't coach during practice  ;)

Anybody else see Bradford sulking on the bench during timeouts.  Is he engaged with the team?

Purely speculation, but I'm calling he's a transfer risk.
Bradford is as much a transfer risk as I am.
Both of us share a love for Valpo basketball.

Tough to argue that list by Tex

He will be there

Matt had a great handle, and that's where John needs to improve. I love how hard he plays and defends. He gets the most out of his ability. Matt was far more gifted athletically and could play multiple positions, while John is strictly a 3.

great stuff...said they've followed Valpo basketball for six years. Thus they're likely former students who graduated a couple of years ago. Perhaps a VU2014.

I don't think it was ever said that Alec said a school record for points in a half. Ryan had 26 a number of years back in the first 20 minutes vs Bethune-Cookman.

It's an accurate synopsis. I'm only saying something because I hope it ends some of the wild speculation that I've been hearing.

I went back and watched the last 5 minutes a couple times and have a few thoughts. Alec definitely got fouled going up on the last shot. a3uge described what happened perfectly. Nick's overall calmness with the ball at all times was invaluable after Shane fouled out, and although they went at him, most of the shots made over him were contested from 18 feet. The two tiny guards from MSU are outstanding scorers. Nick's toughness, smarts, and calm demeanor reminds me a lot of the intangibles that Jake Diebler brought to the table. Overall the officiating was abysmal. The fact that we had to call a timeout because they wouldn't reset the shot clock to :15 after the blatant kick was incredible. Finally, Valpo has a truly great young head coach.

I think it's very refreshing to have a head coach that's very candid. That being said, Dave didn't call out Ryan Moore for being injured. He was simply stating it's unfortunate that he's been unable to stay on the field because he's one of the team's top receivers. Additionally for anyone to think Valpo would play an injured player, that's just not the case. I've seen numerous examples in recent years where a player has wanted to play, but was not cleared by the training staff.

Obviously somebody messed up. Please note that neither Sacred Heart nor any other PFL team is receiving votes. Somebody overseeing this poll should have caught this, and if someone really gave Valpo a 20th ranking, it should have been corrected. For instance last year if one of the basketball coaches voted UIC 20th in the poll, would it have been released that way?? I highly doubt it.

I doubt we're looking for a one year guy at that spot.

I think Middleton in the Horizon League is most likely a 3. The 5 spot is sewed up for years to come. Both backcourt spots look to be in good shape as well. So really, we're looking at the 4 being the need position, and obviously not a need for next season  ;D, but for 2017-18. There will be scholarships available to fill that need. So I guess that's my roundabout answer to "why so many guards?"

Davis blocked me from viewing his tweets, so I have no idea what he's been tweeting. I don't believe I ever attacked him. My original tweet was trying to inform him that his info was way off base. Oh well, I guess the inability to view his tweets going forward will leave an empty whole in my day!  ;D

I stand by the statement, there's no chance he's going to Vandy. ;)
#48
Yep, you get me.  :-[

Tom Davis either completely made that up, or talked to someone else that made that up. He's not going to Vandy, he's just not. Period, end of subject. I've been on Valpo message boards for nearly 20 years as have a few others on here. Has there ever been a subject, where I've repeatedly mentioned something like this and I've been wrong? If so, call me out on this. I repeat he's not going to Vandy.

fact: Maravilla told Lottich if he doesn't hire Vujic, Skara would leave.
fact: Lottich did not offer Vujic a job.
fact: The day after Lottich completed the hiring of his staff, Skara asked for his release.
