Good add - TOM IZZO  Something about a GOOD COACH even PRETTY GOOD COACHES they WIN  When "Door Matt" gets above .500 we'll say he's OK COACH - and yes I'm counting the two D2 failures. 0-3 Another metric would be - break into the <100 Ranked D1 teams and become a PRETTY GOOD COACH.  You got the talent coach - get your skill book out and use it.

Perhaps I'm not seeing it and therefore would like to know from others why Matt is a good coach. What did he do against Toledo that proved he is a good coach?  I'm not talking about recruiting but his good qualities during the games played. What are his coaching strengths?  Forget the weaknesses. Seriously interested in what others may be seeing that I'm missing.     

You're not seeing it because it's not there to be seen -YET.  SLOW starts and NO Finish.  Live and die by the 3, No D. 0-3. Who thinks he's a good coach? Good coach, Coach K,  Bill Belichick, Vince Lombardi, Don Shula, Red Auerbach, John Wooden, Pat Riley, Mike Ditka, Homer Drew, Gene Bartow all winners. "Door Matt" not YET.

Just the beginning of an awful season. Seems like most players don't know what to do with the ball. Pass it across court and see if the defense will catch it.

"Door Matt" will be out coached once again!!!! Glory days of Valpo Bball are over!!!! Time to go back to D2 where they belong.

Always hoped for the best when the transfers started to find their way to Valpo.  All I read about was how talented and hungry this group was/is.  If that was all hype shame on me for believing it. I really wanted to believe after suffering through some awful years, post Peters. The coach was going to make things happen and he couldn't keep his most exciting franchise player JFL.  Give me a break coach!!!! How much of your talent is figuring out that the Valpo Beacons don't have much of a chance to make the Dance with a confused leader. Go to Youtube and take a few online coaching classes. 0-2 to D2.

Finally this board has turned positive  After what 3 years This is one hell of a spirited team and yes the Coach does a great job as well    Bryce and Alex were excellent for Valpo's program, but let FREEMAN-LIBERTY RING  I love watching this guy play

Remembering the tragic loss that the Purple Aces encountered when their plane crashed in Dec 1977. The entire team and coaches died in that tragedy. RIP

If my memory is still working one of Valpo's greatest coaches, Clean Gene Bartow won the game in Evansville back in 1969 

Seven of fifteen games decided by four or less points  a good sign of a competitive team. 

Let's celebrate the fact that we finally have a schedule. Now let's get real. Valpo has a lot of makeup work to do in the next few years to gain the respect in NCAA Mens Basketball which it had not to many years ago. Once that happens perhaps the home schedule will look better. What do you expect when you don't deserve top notch Div 1 teams.

If I were Micha I'd look at the Div2 teams in the nine states that have legalized weed He wouldn't have to put up with the Valpo POlice and their strong armed tactics
