I am a big Jake Diebler fan, but I don't think he is ready for a D1 coaching job, especially at a high mid major school.

I can't really say it was any of the above. I think VU is still flawed in its make up.  Rebounding is the number one issue with me and offensive play sets the second. The team in my mind is still a work in progress but looking into next year I don't see much help in the rebounding coming in. Defense at times looks good but Ball State certainly showed a weakness in that part of VU's game with the number of uncontested layups that were made. We win or stay close only when our 3 point shooting is decent. Coaching .... not sure yet and don't want to go there until after the MVC games are done. But as I've said the team is still a work in progress with too many guards and not enough rebounding and defense.

I can't count the number of times that a VU player shoots a 3, and the other 4 turn and run back on defense as soon as the ball leaves the shooter's hands. Do they think that every shot is going in ( FG %=47, 3Pt %=33)? Don't good rebounding teams "crash the boards"?   

I could only listen to the game, but noticed the following in the box score: VU was 3-16 (18%) from three, had 17 turnovers, 9 assists and 27 rebounds. Ball State shot 26.7% from three, had 10 turnovers, 18 assists and 35 rebounds.

It is really hard to win any basketball game shooting 18% from three and getting doubled up in assists. This was on home court!

One thing the box score doesn't show is the number of easy drives to the basket that BSU had.  Way too many.

Looks like the crowd is going to be pretty big.  Now 18 chairbacks left and 105 on the reserve side.  Upstairs looks like about 7 or 8 rows deep gone. Still three days till game time.  It won't be a sellout but still the biggest crowd of the year to date.  As for the students, there are easily 100 kids living within a short drive if they can simply get off their A$$es and show up. 

Very possibly a lot of BSU fans are buying some/most of these seats.

I certainly enjoyed the advent vespers last night.  Of course, President Heckler participated. 

The chapel was pretty well filled, but those attending were chairback types -- not many students at all. Perhaps they should have offered t-shirts and subs to attract them.

As has been stated, times change.  Frosh are no longer required to attend morning chapel.  Lutherans are a minority among the student-body.  The services best attended are no longer on Sunday morning.

Nor at basketball games.

They are 23-8 and 13-3 at home this year; they lost the MAC Championship to Eastern Michigan 3-2 on the Miami home court...

WHEN we win tonight, we draw the winner of the "Tulane" Bracket...(Tulane/CalBaptist)... Both played 5-setters yesterday.

Not sure, but if the "Top" bracket hosts, we go on the road starting on 12/5.  Tulane would be the prohibitive favorite, 26-8 overall, 15-2 at home.

When I first read your post, I thought with 5 setters, who is going to spike?   

Can anyone tell me what has happened to Sydney Bronner?  I assume she is injured because she has not played since the Loyola game on Oct 5th.  Since she was a starter and perhaps our best blocker in the 2017-2018 season, having won the MVC defensive player of the week once during that first MVC season, it is even more surprising what we were able to achieve after her loss.  I am curious as to what happened and whether she may be back for the NIVC because I sat with her parents at the Purdue Fort Wayne match and they were very nice to talk to and so supportive of the team and their daughter during her senior campaign.

Sydney suffered an ankle injury.  I think ligaments were involved.  She was in a boot for a while.  Yes, we did miss her blocking.

I think it would be a good balancing act.

Also, Todd does radio and Walton does TV ... TV doesn't require that every pass or movement be explained to the listener/watcher as they can see it on the screen.

Then why do 99% of the color guys talk non-stop (See dookie V, Dakich, etc, etc.)?

Deja VU all over again.

What is with the four, who were not taking the shot, running to the defensive basket as soon as the ball left the shooter's hands, instead of looking for an offensive  rebound?  This happened many times.  Turns out, with our pathetic shooting, there were offensive rebounds to be had.

As disappointed as i am about losing to UIndy, I am more disappointed that for yet another year the ARC sound system absolutely stinks.  I sure would love to be able to hear every word that John Bowker says, but alas that will not happen this year, it seems.

Jay hobbled into the VB game, tonight, on crutches with a bare foot.  He hopped up to a third row seat.

Personal aside: 30+ years ago, my daughter was married in the chapel and I walked her down that long aisle  (a lot farther than this photo).

If they raise the $$ with at least 50-75% donation, then go BIG!  Not in the sense of expanding seating but improving experience.  I'd like to see expansive windows (let nature in) like in the Drake picture but on steroids.  Maybe make the vast majority of the track level and up (chair back side) become picture windows.  Bump out the concession side and more picture windows above the track level surrounding a new concession area in the front right corner.

Keep the track IMO but improve the surface.  AC of course and improved lighting/speakers and call it a day.  The above could be phase 1 ($10,000,000??).

Phase 2 would be other non revenue generating upgrades like staff offices and third level gym etc.

I know I threw this idea out there a while ago but I think it would be cool pay homage to Chapel in the ARC improvements in some way like having on the upper walls above the track have a glass wall like the Chapel's but put the Crusader logo in the middle and it could tower over the court. If they could do it right, it could possibly look pretty cool. It would definitely make the ARC unique and different, as well as being impressive for recruits. They'd probably need to use a stronger type of glass but I'd leave that up to the engineers/architects to figure out. Thoughts?

Since most games are at night, Pretty windows will not be all that impressive.

I know you're a longstanding Crusader BB and VB supporter (maybe FB also?) and season ticket holder. Are you moving somewhere locally, or out of the area where you will no longer be able to watch our beloved Crusaders in person?

We will be staying in Valpo, WH, thanks for asking.  And we will be still watching MBB and I will be watching VB (the wife isn't a VB fan).  Strangely, I have never attended a VU FB game in the 50+ years we have lived in Valpo. And, BTW, we'll be signing up for ESPN+, albeit reluctantly.

Unfortunately for many of those years you haven't missed much.  Now, however, may be the time to get on board!  This current team is very solid.  If nothing else, come to the Homecoming game or the Butler game.  Typically very good crowds particularly if the weather is good!

I might, as long as it won't conflict with my alma mater's game.
