I just spent some time reading the bios of the incoming class as reported at the Valpo Athletics site. I will say, this group is impressive both from the athletic accomplishments but more so academically. Most all indicated their planned major and clearly, Valpo's highly regarded professional schools made a difference to these kids. This is not a "basket weaving major" team. This is a bunch of engineering, business, biology, chemistry type people. Obviously being athletic is a big part of football success, but so to is being able to handle the complications of college offensive and defensive schemes.

Here is what I found out:

Players from 17 states ( that will bring the total number of states represented to 24!--Wow! Valpo's national draw is very impressive)

16 business majors

9 engineering majors

4 Biology/Chemistry majors

3 Sports Management majors

3 Communication majors

1 Political Science major

1 Criminology major

1 physical Therapy major

A lot of very bright young men!! Great recruiting class!!

118-->110... have to assume some of the kids who have received offers will not get fall camp invites. I suppose "oversigning" a by a few is prob a good strategy in case some signees land late scholarship offers elsewhere or otherwise don't end up at Valpo in August.

Is the camp limit 110 is the roster limit 110? I've never been completely sure of the numbers.

Can't they bring in any overage as "managers"?
I'm not sure they can afford to not invite any players from last years roster as they'll need to have enough players ready to go from day 1 and the returning number isn't that big.

To qualify for Division 1 and not play a junior varsity schedule the roster can be a maximum of 110 the first day of camp.

After week 0 there can be unlimited players on the roster. Week 0 is after classes start.

Cecchini wouldn't cut kids but tell them you can join when school year starts and he'd over sign.

Thanks for this I always wondered why guys disappeared from the roster then reappeared!

Between 54 recruits and the results of spring ball have 8 less players seems realistic.
