Spring Football Check In

Hello all, just popping in to give the spring check in. Usually I hibernate 6-8 weeks after signing day then get back at it.

Fox had a very productive zoom call with alumni. If you are a football alum and not on the zooms please get in contact with me.

QB and RB are wide open. Great news as young Orr and Clarke are still on roster at RB.

Had a few more guys enter portal. No one of real consequence. Brought in another RB

Spring numbers at 65-70 with a large attendance for junior day. It appears the program is at an upwards trajectory.

Niesner working out with the Seattle Seahawks this weekend. Washington is looking at CFL and XFL , will not be returning

Thanks for the update! Loss of coaches is a bit concerning at this stage of the game, tho...

• New WR coach (Gladney's replacement) has left the program
• Land moved from the defensive side to the TEs and has now left the staff.
• Smart, the S & C guy, has left the program

Any news on filling those spots?

No, essentially what is happening is attrition due to salary purposes. Valparaiso football currently allows 6 full time employees. Vast majority of PFL is operating at 10.


That's about another 120-160k from the University. Seems like it'd be 3-4 players tuition

Disappointing that VU refusing to keep up with rest of conference in terms of number of funded coaching positions. Truly a significant disadvantage.

S & C position is of particular concern. Spring Ball will end soon and summer program will need to put together, both for those who stay in Valpo and those that head home.

Any idea how staff is handling things now? Position coaches in the weight room?

The budget for FB is ahead of a few schools and not that far off others. So why do all these others schools supposedly have so many more full time coaches?

That's the listed budget wonder how much is borrowed / repurposed at the University for other departments
