As expected, Mark Brown is in the portal
I could see Tornatta having a solid career at a low D-1 program, similar to Kasper Sepp at Cornell. He is just not bulky enough for the MVC to be a F/C, and also not fast enough to be more of a SF at this level. I wish him well.
Mark Brown might need to go NAIA or D2. Not sure that he gets a D1 offer with his shooting numbers. Shon will find a nice home as a reserve at a similar program that can provide more NIL, and will likely be able to play some pro ball with his defensive/rebounding capabilities.
I was talking about Bryce as a coach, not as a player.
During Bryce, we might not have statistically been an elite three point shooting team. But we always had at least one or two guys that you could rely on to make consistent threes. I feel like that has been lacking at times since his departure as a coach. You mentioned Peters, but again, that was a Bryce guy.
Of course, there have been outliers, we have had guys that can shoot. But, if you look at our best teams in recent memory, like the 2012-2013 team, we had numerous high-quality shooters – not just Ryan, but Boggs, Bogan, and Kenney were all extremely reliable shooters, even Dority could hit a big three (not to mention Rossi who was a three-point specialist but only played a few games).
So, I'm hoping we can return to this blueprint and add some shooting along with extra height.
But remember that Bryce's teams did not play in the MVC and the type of players he had then, in general, were not at the level of ability needed to compete at the higher level MVC . Of course there were exceptions.
Good points but we dominated the MVC non conference for a ten year period while in the horizon maybe like 10-2, Small sample size, but we swept MO State 4-0, defeated Murray twice, once by 30, Drake by 25 or so. Our Horizon league teams under Bryce would have competed pretty well in the MVC except for the CIT post season team that lost to Columbia Alec's freshman year.
Ryan F was sensational when healthy, Kiser was serviceable from 3, JFL took a high volume and Eron Goron and McMillan were streaky. Yeah we've not a consistent threat for multiple years from the same player in awhile. Taylor from DII?
I guess we’ll never know if Watson, when healthy, could have helped us. He’s in the portal.
@vu72 where are you seeing this. He hasn't announced anything on social media
So little was said about him that I have no idea if he could have been a contributor. Looks like another chance to fill a roster spot with more predictable known factors and potentials.I guess we’ll never know if Watson, when healthy, could have helped us. He’s in the portal.

verbal commits. https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/jayden-watson
Weird he hasnt said anything himself about it, but as others have said. More opportunity to get a more proven scorer
Does anyone know when we can expect to hear whom we have signed out of the portal or out of lower Division schools?

Portal is open and closes near the end of the month. Expect a time frame of that
I thought that if a school found the guys they wanted early in the signing period they would go after them right away. Then we often would see early signings in the portal period.
Awhile back someone posted a list of 4 or 5 names that VU had expressed interest in including a 6-11guy from Huntington University and someone from Indiana Tech. Was that a starter list or names they were actively pursuing?
