Shon to Murray. Really disappointed. All the more reason to hate the portal.
I could NOT agree more. Shon got a lot of money to go to Murray. It should be interesting to watch as they signed another center (from Belmont) within hours of announcing the Shon signing. Will be curious to see if Shon ultimately starts and/or finishes games for Murray. We have all talked about the amount of NIL dollars that Murray can spend versus the rest of the league. The difference is substantial.
Murray has a 5 mil NIL budget
They spend 500k on shon
They spend 500k on brigham rogers
They spent 1 mil on domon.
The rest is up for grabs
So we got a boom watch. Any clues?
going to the facebook page it may be just Dylan Moles signing his committment as it shows him and Roger in a picture
@rs1207 no, it's definitely more than that...not gonna give burner accounts any promo here but I'm afraid they may have this one right if you go searching for it...

Crazy to even type this but Shon got more than $500K from Murray (and he may not even start). Shon's pay is probably as much as several full rosters in the MVC. Heck it may even be close to our NIL budget.
The boom post is not for Dylan. It is for a D1 guy that committed to Valpo. He should be a nice help and complement to the returning guys.
@backagain2024 The number I heard was 500k on the. Good for him that he was able to get more than that. Go get your bag. Just sucks that it's for Murray State. Also sucks that they have that much money to begin with at this level
I'm wondering whether or not schools with bigger time D1 football programs like Murray, Southern Illinois, Illinois State, Northern Iowa and Indiana State have a larger pool of ticket revenue to draw from and thus support NIL. I mean these places are drawing 10,000 or more at ticket prices higher than Valpo which draws maybe 1200 or so on average.
What is your information source regarding Murray State's NIL budget and what they are paying Shon? With some familiarity of Murray State and finances at Kentucky public universities, this is mind boggling.
@vu84v2 it's mostly second hand information gathered from people close to the Murray program. But I have been told by multiple people that the number they have is between 4-5 million to spend
Given their track record with gets and money put into the basketball program...it seems to be accurate
L Scroggins is back in the Valley at UIC...very interesting.
Unless they have one or a few big donors, this just doesn't add up. Even if they use most of their 'buy game' money from football. But we are in a wacky and weird world with NIL, so this may well be accurate.
slight delay in posting because of the downtime, but it is official.

Looks like a slightly bigger built Deese replacement. Do we have one more?
I guess we might finally get to see L Scroggins play in a game at the ARC.

My source on Shon is direct from both the player side and coaches side. I knew Shon had a substantial offer (the exact amount) as far back as 10 days ago. I do not know where the Murray money is coming from. I have heard from logical sources that Ja Morant is comfortably involved but I don’t know to what level. This NIL world is wild. Look at UIC, they brought in a new coach and simultaneously decided to invest in basketball. Their NIL is now very nice. Valpo got some sizable donations as well but because of the documented financial issues, those funds are being spread over many years. We wanted Shon back and he planned on being back but we can’t compete with these absurd offers especially with other key pieces returning and a roster to build.
