Here in Texas, among small schools playing 9 man football, there is something called the “mercy” rule. Essentially 50 point lead in the second half ends the game.
The NCAA needs something similar. Nothing can be gained, and only players hurt, playing in a game like Illinois State v. St. Francis , ending in a 76-0 win for the Redbirds.

If a team is up 50 in the second half, just play with a continuously running clock.
More silliness. Miami leading Florida A and M 77-0 at the end of the THIRD quarter. At least the coaches agreed to cut the final quarter to 10 minutes instead of 15. So nice of Miami to agree. Ridiculous.

Easily explained and completely above board . Ya gotta look at it from Oregon’s perspective. They barely beat Boise State and then were beat last week on the road by Oklahoma State. They’d been victimized, poor babies. So naturally they had to put up a score that would off-set the embarrassment of unfairly being a made a victim. Go Ducks!
