program seems to be moving in the right direction...how long since we beat a conference opponent by that many?

Valpo beat Butler something like 47-3 in 2022 I think but certainly one of a handful of big wins. There are several games we can win ( not sure which are on our schedule) but Davidson, Marist and Stetson come to mind. Lots of weird things going on. Who would have predicted Presbyterian thumping the Tommies??

I am becoming quite impressed with this staff’s adjustment to this higher level of football competition in just one year

And we have a diamond in Chris Gundy. His ST accomplishment talents should be raising NFL interest.

I followed most of the game on the internet radio connection. It was great to hear the announcers and the VU coaches in the booth so fired up during the game!

The postgame story posted to the VU Athletics page listed the many statistical highlights of the game. Morehead State may be a weak team, but to roll over any conference opponent in an away game like yesterday is a big step forward for this program.

Kudos to the players and coaches for rallying after last week's heartbreaking loss to show that there's grit on the football side of VU athletics as well. Great win.

PFL is weird this year.

PC beats St. Thomas by a ton.

Tommies crush San Diego

Marist Crushes PC.

San Diego crushes Davidson

Stetson and Davidson appear to be legit bad

Drake and Dayton still to be determined

Figuring out the rest of the league is up in the air.

Valpo might be able to contend if we had an above average QB. They are much improved and the Pioneer conference is up for grabs.

Topic starter

Rowan by accounts has been a great leader. Numbers are what they are. Record is 3-19 I believe. Bottom in PFL in almost every tangible stat last season. Mid to bottom this season. BUT

He appears to have learned the offense and is making the correct calls and checks which will benefit the younger guys playing with him after he leaves, he has stayed for a fifth year at non scholarship football (which a few other starters have followed suit), Caron loved him and it appears from the Ehrlich article he has bought into waiting his turn.

Rowan was the culture setting long play for the staff. If we gain another starter or two back for 5th because Rowan stayed for five that helps. If he talks to Marcus / Noah about what he’s seeing and checking into this year helps.

I’m not saying he’s been good or even average. But he’s a clean cut leader laying foundational work
