Caleb fired a 5 under 66 in the first round and is tied for 2nd late in the round. It looks like the course is a little more difficult than many in the Korn Ferry Tour.

one shot off the lead with one guy with two holes to go who might make him two off the lead. The bigger story is how he got to five under. He was four under only to bogey two in a row. Then on 16 he holes one from a bunker 60 feet away for an eagle! Then on 18, he holes a 30 footer on his final stoke to get to five under.

At the moment based on his position he would get his card. He will need to keep it up which isn’t a very easy thing to do. I can only imagine the pressure he is feeling.

Wow! Were you able to see that live during Golf Chanel coverage or was a highlight they shared during the broadcast. I’m thinking about leaving work early tomorrow to watch the full 3 hours of coverage. Being in tie for third place has him going off in the 2nd to last group.

Of the golfers on the bubble to get their card, he one of the best in hitting good drives (4th overall, but 2nd among golfers playing this week) and hitting fairways (10th overall and 4th among golfers playing this weekend). These are important talents to playing well in this weeks tournament.

Saw him make the putt on 18. Then they showed the eagle on replay. If he makes a run he should get plenty of airtime.

After a rough Friday, he bounced back a little today, currently in a tie for 17th. It looks like he will need to repeat his success on Thursday or better to get his PGA card. It’s shaping up like he will need to finish in solo 7th place or better to get his card.

Caleb finished at -11, tied for 12th place in this season-ending tournament. With that, he moved from #25 to #24 on the final points list. (The top 20 get PGA tour cards.)

In brief, it looks like two of the players on the bubble ahead of Caleb did very well and moved up to claim their cards (like Austin Hitt, who was #22 and won the tournament). Also, most of the players who were who were similarly ranked performed well enough that Caleb could not catch them.

By my quick scan, Caleb would have had to finish at -16 and tie for fourth place to get enough points to make it into the top 20  (Don't quote me on that - it should would have been close if he would have finished in fourth place because several of the other bubble players would have gotten a few less points.)

Still, an outstanding season, with three top 10s, 12 top 25s, 23 of 24 cuts made. Currently, he is #276 on the World Golf Ranking.

A great season overall. Moved from just inside the full exempt level to just outside getting his pga card. Earned 321k versus 205k.

His consistent play is obvious. He just needs to be consistent at a slightly higher level. If his improvement from season one to season two is anywhere near that is season three, he’ll be playing on the big stage.
