They could have won by 40. Jim Kirwin not walking through those doors. Nice to see so many players get time and depth will be a strength this year. Once Roberts develops a mid range jump shot, three ball watch out. Good handles and court awareness, has some JFL in him. Carter has taken a big step forward and might just have the most upside of anyone on the team, might be the best player on the team by years end. Terrible free throw shooting, terrible turnout for opening night, I guess the Bears are that much more interesting at the moment. 1,393 "officially"

Purdue prolly favored by 22.5 Friday.

Here is the game recap. It was great to start the season off with a comfortable win.

I think most people expected some first game jitters, but a 20 point win is still a 20 point win.

3 point % needs to improve and FT% needs to improve.

This defense will be a scary unit.

That was exactly my evaluation of the game, as well. However, the 20-point win isn't indicative of much, since the opponent wasn't very strong and decent shooting would have created a greater gap. Likewise, from the other end of the spectrum, I would be surprised if the game against Purdue proves a good measure. I just hope these two games—the first a home game and the second in front of a large hostile crowd—are effective at getting rid of the season's initial jitters and any early deer in the headlights moments, giving the players experiences that they can take forward to feel more comfortable. My main concern is that everyone stay healthy through the pre-season!
