New season, new thread. They played an exhibition game last night vs Judson. Easy victory though the website has absolutely zero coverage.

On to the regular season, 33 losses in a row. Game 1 a massacre at Michigan State. Game 2 at home vs Detroit. They beat us by 30 last year. A good test. Game 3 vs Culver-Stockton, NAIA school should be a win though they won 21 games last year.

A bunch of new faces, it should be interesting.

Somebody find out how big the check was to open at Michigan State. Late in the first half down 40-9 with 16 turnovers.

A massacre was predicted....

Recorded tied or set with a 0 point quarter.

30 turnovers vs 16 baskets.

Help me understand we have 14 players and only played 10, why?

What is going on here?  Games like this are an embarrassment, terrible for morale, and disgusting as far as Valparaiso University is concerned.  If this is the quality of players we are able to recruit, SOMEONE should realize that you do NOT schedule games like this, no matter what the money says.  A money game is fine but this is ridiculous.  This is harmful to the team members and ought to be stopped!  Now that  this joke is over, let's hurry and get to the Wisconsin game so we can embarrass the girls in front of a home crowd.  COME ON VALPO!  GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!

Games like this are very common in NCAW. The talent pool is not comparable at all to the men's field. In both size and quality. They're significantly less high quality recruits to go around to the smaller schools. There's a lot less parity in NCAA women's basketball

No doubt true, not sure you understand the previous post.

I understand the smaller talent pool, scheduling problems, etc.  However, we hire Coaches and Athletic Directors to know what is available, access that information and talent available, get the talent  that we are able to sign at our Mid-Major level and schedule accordingly.  Scheduling teams like MSU and WI at a late notice(vs. a year or 2 ahead) with known potential talent levels shows  very poor decision making for the good of the program.  OK, I'll give you one "we get our a-- kicked game" in order to impress somebody or whatever, but these type of things do nothing to enhance the program, especially when we are in a TOTALLY re-build year.  What a great start after last season's disaster!!!

Sure, these types of games do nothing to "enhance" a program, but they sure do a lot to pay the bills of said program

With a season like last year and then a couple of morale deflating starts to this year, and if the trend continues we will not have to worry about a women's basketball program and there will be no need to worry about paying the bills.  It is a shame that our recruited women players have to be the scape goats and endure the embarrassment of the situation.  I hope their season improves and the situation gets better but i have my doubts.  Having a bad game and bad season now and then is one thing...having a bad program is another.   One thing certain, if the situation does not improve, attendance is not going to do much to help pay the bills.  We need to be more realistic in running the program and turning it around.  I know we cannot compare it to our Men's program, but...  We can and should do better.

Next game, home vs Detroit. They beat us there last year by 30. This should be a good barometer.
